Gate valves

Gate valves

Gate valves, also called knife gate valves, are a type of manual stop valve.

Our one-way gate valves are composed of a CF8M stainless steel or GJL250 cast iron body and a sliding stainless steel gate.

When this valve is operated mechanically its gate moves vertically, making it possible to control the flow of the fluid passing through it.

Gate valves can withstand difficult conditions and be used with corrosive fluids or fluids containing particles.

Gate valves can be used in several business areas, for example, they are used in particular in :

- Drinking water and waste water networks - to isolate pipe sections so that maintenance can be carried out in the network.
- Chemical and petrochemical industries - for piping systems which transport corrosive and dangerous fluids.
- Mines and quarries - to control sludge flow rates.
- Power stations - to control water flow rates.

Several factors must be taken into account when choosing a gate valve such as the type of fluid that it will be used with and the diameter of the piping that it will be used in.

Most gate valves have a sealing gasket which ensures that they do not leak. But metal/metal sealing gate valves can be required for certain specific applications. However, it is important to take into account that metal/metal sealing cannot guarantee complete sealing.

The operating temperature of gate valves varies according to the model and its type of sealing :

- NBR seats: 10°C to +110°C
- EPDM seats: 10°C to +120°C
- Metal/metal seats: 10°C to +240°C

All of our one-way wafer type gate valves have a nominal pressure of 10 bar.
