Butterfly valves
Butterfly valves, also called 1/4 (90°) turn butterfly valves, are components which are designed to regulate or cut-off fluid flow in piping systems.
A butterfly valve is composed of a body, gasket, disk and shaft.
These valves are named after butterflies due to the shape of the disk within them. This disk is assembled onto their shaft and is used to regulate fluid flow in processes. Our butterfly valves are generally concentric or centred and can be closed by their disk.
This type of valve is often used in several different industries and applications including: general, chemical and petroleum industries, as well as in compressed air, water supply, waste water treatment, fire protection, fuel handling and sanitation facility networks.
Béné Inox proposes several types of butterfly valve which can be fixed between two flanges :
- Butterfly valves with locating holes (wafer type valves) - the bodies of these valves contain centring holes which make it easier to connect them onto piping systems with flanges.
- Butterfly valves with threaded location holes (lug type valves) - this type of valve has a number of lugs spread out around its body. Each lug contains a female threaded location hole so that it is possible to fix these valves using nuts and bolts. These valves are ideal for use in networks where there can be significant temperature variations or where it is necessary to be able to cut-off fluid flow to a pipe so that maintenance can be carried out downstream from the valve.
