Butterfly valves

Butterfly valves, also called 1/4 (90°) turn butterfly valves, are components which are designed to regulate or cut-off fluid flow in piping systems.

A butterfly valve is composed of a body, gasket, disk and shaft.

These valves are named after butterflies due to the shape of the disk within them. This disk is assembled onto their shaft and is used to regulate fluid flow in processes. Our butterfly valves are generally concentric or centred and can be closed by their disk.
This type of valve is often used in several different industries and applications including: general, chemical and petroleum industries, as well as in compressed air, water supply, waste water treatment, fire protection, fuel handling and sanitation facility networks.

Béné Inox proposes several types of butterfly valve which can be fixed between two flanges :

- Butterfly valves with locating holes (wafer type valves) - the bodies of these valves contain centring holes which make it easier to connect them onto piping systems with flanges.
- Butterfly valves with threaded location holes (lug type valves) - this type of valve has a number of lugs spread out around its body. Each lug contains a female threaded location hole so that it is possible to fix these valves using nuts and bolts. These valves are ideal for use in networks where there can be significant temperature variations or where it is necessary to be able to cut-off fluid flow to a pipe so that maintenance can be carried out downstream from the valve.

We propose 3 versions of our butterfly valve models so that they can meet your different requirements :

1.     Butterfly valves with a cast iron body and a stainless steel butterfly
2.     Butterfly valves with a stainless steel body and stainless steel butterfly
3.     Butterfly valves with a cast iron body and butterfly

Our selection of manual butterfly valves are equipped with either a notched handle or a raised handwheel gear reducer which can be used on thermally insulated piping. These provide several opening angles which make it easier to regulate fluid flow in your applications.

These components are also adapted for use in applications which require 'All or Nothing' operation.

The sealing of our stainless steel butterfly valves is guaranteed by their EPDM, ACS (French certification for drinking-water piping sanitary compliance), NBR, FKM, food-grade silicon or PTFE gaskets.

Butterfly valves with an ACS compliant EPDM gasket
for drinking-water piping are a standard product at Béné Inox. The operating temperature for this type of valve is between -30°C and +110°C.

You should choose your valve's gasket according to the type of fluid the valve will be used with and its operating temperature.

Béné Inox can supply several different types of gaskets which have different operating temperature ranges so that you can adapt our valves to your processes :

- NBR gaskets: -10°C to +80°C
- FKM gaskets: -10°C to +150°C
- Food-grade silicon gaskets: -20°C to +150°C
- PTFE gaskets: -25°C to +180°C

Take a look at our wide range of over 42 butterfly valve models. These are available in sizes ranging from DN40 to DN300.

The maximum operating pressure for our valves is 16 bar for valves up to DN200 and 10 bar for valves which have a nominal diameter of DN250 or above.

Béné Inox also proposes a selection of actuated butterfly valves
